Hello everyone,

My plans to stay at the Permaculture Community in Costa Rica did not go as I planned. I intended to spend 2 months their, and ended up spending 2 nights.  To make a long story short, I basically did not fit in with the people and felt disconnected while I was there.

I am currently back home in Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida.  I will be spending my time pursuing a degree from the University of Natural Health and of course Creating Health in every present moment for the next two months.  Exactly what I will be doing after that is up in the air right now.  I will either be attending the University of Florida or New College: The Honors College of Florida.

All my best,

Robby

Citrus Season in Florida, You Gotta Love It!

Posted on Mar 11th, 2008 by Robby : Robby Barbaro Robby
Hey everyone,

I did some citrus picking on Sunday.  I couldn’t help but be grateful during the entire experience for all the abundance that Nature provides.  I enjoy picking my own fruit for many reasons.  First, I believe it establishes a special relationship between myself and the food that nourishes me.  Second, food that I pick with my own hands is FRESH.  Third, this food is BEYOND ORGANIC.  I picked the fruit from properties I know don’t use chemicals on their lawn.  Fourth, picking fruit from various locations is one way in which I include variety in my diet.

I’m in search of other fruit trees as well.  Everywhere I go I just ask people if they know where fruit trees are.  Yesterday, I asked the checkout lady at Target and she said her husband would call me and tell me where I can find some mango trees.  I’ll keep you all posted!!

Here is a picture of my loot:

All my best,

Robby

Fruit Adventure in Miami

Posted on Mar 25th, 2008 by Robby : Robby Barbaro Robby

Hello everyone,

I spent the last weekend in Miami/Homestead/Coconut Grove searching for tropical fruit connections.  It was an awesome weekend.

I summed up the weekend with a slide show of photos and captions.  Unfortunately, SmugMug.com can’t display captions during a slide show. They are working on fixing this.

So, for now the best way to view the pictures and captions is to use this link:

Trip to Minnesota

Posted on Mar 28th, 2008 by Robby : Robby Barbaro Robby

Hello everyone,

My parents travel between their condo in Minneapolis, MN and their home in Sarasota, FL.  I was invited to come on a trip to Minneapolis to spend time with them and also with my older brother for 6 days.  PJ lives in the same condo building as my dad and I am actually staying at his place.

This travel experience was very unique because I had just purchased a bunch of fruit in Miami that would ripen during the period of the Minnesota trip.  So, I had to bring a lot of stuff with me.  Usually when I travel I have my host buy a bunch of bananas and I don't have to bring anything.  My dad purchased 50 bananas and I ended up bringing 5 papays, 4 mameys, some black saptoe, sapodilla and caimito.  I purchased organic lettuce at the local grocery store.

Here are some travel pictures with captions.  SmugMug is still having issues with the slide show, so the link below is the best way to see the pictures and read the captions.

When I travel I choose to avoid eating at all costs until I get to my destination.  In my opinion, traveling on an airplane is so harmful to my body, that it is in my body's best interest to not have to use any nerve energy for digestion, rather spend that nerve energy dealing with the harmful effects of airplane travel.  I also load up on water.  The solution to pollution in dilution!

I would like to add that my family does not choose to eat the same way I choose to eat.  I hear many people express how difficult it is for them to carry out their conscious intentions to eat healthfully around people who don't choose the same.  I sympathize with those people because for many years I also had difficulty with such situations.  I hope my present experiences can inspire others to over come that issue and maybe use some of the same "tools" I have used to get to this point.  During this trip my family and I will probably be going out to eat every night.  Last night we went to Champs Sports Bar and Grill and watched the NCAA basketball tournament.  They ate quesadillas, bears, margaritas, pizza etc... and I ate my bananas and lettuce before we arrived at the restaurant.  Since it is uncomfortable to have nothing in front of me I either order lettuce or I bring my own food. Last night I brought my own bag of pre-washed organic spinach from Earthbound Organics.

The dining experience described above is in addition to sharing other home meals with them.  At breakfast my mom might make some pancakes and eggs and lunch might be some kind of sandwich or something.  You know, the standard America diet.  Although, my mom has become a vegetarian recently :)  The point is, they eat what they want to eat, and I eat what I want to eat.  This does not stop us from connecting and enjoying life together as a family.

I plan to start sharing my daily food intake regularly.  So, I will start with yesterdays food consumption.

Food Consmption for March 28th, 2008 - Too Much Fruit?

Posted on Mar 29th, 2008 by Robby : Robby Barbaro Robby

Hello everyone,

Many people say the 80/10/10 program requires too much fruit. Why don’t people tell me that the 80/10/10 program requires too many greens?  This program calls for more greens than any other nutritional program on the planet.  Dr. Doug Graham recommends that we consume 2-6% of our calories from greens.  That’s a lot of greens!

Fruits and shoots are health foods and there is no program on the planet that requires more fruits and shoots.

Lunch at Panera Bread - Food Consumption for March 29th, 2008

Posted on Mar 30th, 2008 by Robby : Robby Barbaro Robby
Hello everyone,

Yesterday, I brought mamey to Panera Bread for lunch. One lady came over and asked for the name of the fruit and wrote it down so she could research it. Another women asked for a seed and is going to plant it in California, lol

It was good time!

Picture of my mom, brother and me with my mamey:
